AI visibility tool — one score for how AI search sees your brand
AuditAE runs your buyers’ real questions on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then tells you whether you were cited, who was cited instead, and what to change first. A 0–100 score you can watch climb. No subscription.
See who the AI engines cite for any brand right now.
One prompt × four engines. No signup, no card. Your mention, your citation, and every competitor named, in about three minutes.
Ranking tells you where you sit on a page. Visibility tells you whether the answer names you.
When a buyer asks ChatGPT for the best option in your category, it writes one answer and names a few brands. There is no page two. Either you are in that answer or the click goes to whoever is. Rank trackers can’t see this, because there is no rank; there is an answer, a set of sources the engine cited, and a set of brands it mentioned.
Those two are not the same thing, and the gap between them is where most brands live. In our audits a brand is typically mentioned far more often than its URL is cited: the engine knows you exist and sends the buyer to a directory, a review site or a competitor’s comparison page instead. An AI visibility tool has to read the answer body for the mention and the source list for the citation, then show you who got the citation you didn’t.
AuditAE runs that read on all four engines on the same prompts, turns it into a single score, and follows the score with a fix list built from the prompts you lost and a live look at your own site. Measure, then do.
Three rates, one 0–100 number, a letter grade
The score wraps the metrics every audit already produces so you have a number you own and can watch move. It is deterministic: same results in, same score out. Grade bands are set for AI-citation reality, so a new brand lands C or D with room to climb, not a flat F.
URL citation rate
How often an engine links your domain as a source in its answer. The hardest signal to earn and the one that sends a buyer to your site instead of someone else's.
Brand mention rate
How often your brand is named in the answer body, cited or not. Most brands are mentioned far more than they're cited; the gap between the two is the work.
Share of voice
Your citations against the competitors the engines named on the same prompts. Reads as a rivalry, which is what it is: every prompt you lose, someone else won.
Grades: A at 70+, B at 50+, C at 32+, D at 15+, F below. A score from fewer than six successful checks is marked preliminary so a one-prompt free check never reads as a verdict. Full weighting on the methodology page.
Six things in every AI visibility report
Per prompt, per engine, with a public share link so the report can go straight to a client or a boss without a login.
Mentioned vs cited
Two separate flags per cell. A mention without a citation means the engine knows you exist and sent the click elsewhere.
Every source cited
The full URL list each engine leaned on for each prompt. The domains cited instead of you are the content gap, ranked.
Competitors named
Each brand that appeared in the answer. Your real competitive set on AI search is often not the one in your deck.
Position and sentiment
Where your first mention lands and whether it reads positive, neutral or negative. Flagged sentiment usually traces to a third-party review.
Do this first
A ranked fix list built from your losses and a live read of your own site: which page to change, what to add, and which lost prompts it closes.
Run-to-run change
Every audit diffs against the last one: prompts gained and lost, competitors that entered the answer, score movement over time.
From prompts to a score in three steps
Questions your buyers actually ask, not keywords. AuditAE suggests a set from your site; edit them or paste your own.
Live calls to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, and a live capture of the Google AI Overviews box. Same prompts, same day, one grid.
One 0–100 number with a letter grade, share of voice against the competitors named, and a “do this first” list. Re-run in 30 days to watch it move.
Not sure the engines can even read your site? Run the free AI search audit first: it checks crawler access, schema, llms.txt and page structure, and emails every fix.
One full audit costs less than one seat-day on the alternatives
Subscription tools charge whether you run an audit or not. AuditAE charges per (prompt × engine): Perplexity 5¢, ChatGPT 7¢, Google AI Overviews 9¢, Gemini 12¢. A 5-prompt audit across all four is $1.65, and a 20-client agency roster audited monthly is a few dollars, not a seat plan.
| Tool | Entry price | Model | Cost · one 5×4 audit | Per-domain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AuditAE | 5–12¢ / check | Pay-as-you-go | $1.65 | No — any domain |
| Otterly Lite | $29 / month | Subscription | $29 | Tier-dependent |
| Semrush AI Visibility | $99 / mo / domain | Sub + per-domain | $99 | Yes — multiplies |
| Profound Lite | $499 / month | Subscription | $499 | Yes |
| Peec AI | ~€49 / month | Subscription | tier-dependent | Yes |
That is a different pricing model, not a discount. Subscriptions earn their keep at daily enterprise cadence; for monthly or quarterly audits across many sites, pay-per-check wins. The pricing page shows the per-engine math.
Built for people with more sites than seats
One score per client, no seats
Audit every client site without per-domain pricing. Each site gets its own score and shareable report; a 20-client roster is a few dollars a month, not a seat plan.
Walk in with a number
Your CMO is asking whether you show up in AI. Run a 5-prompt audit before the meeting and walk in with a score, a competitor list and a fix list.
Find out who ChatGPT recommends
When someone asks an AI engine for a roofer, a dentist or a mover in your city, it names three. Check whether you're one of them and what the others have that you don't.
Measure the page, not the rank
Ranking on page one doesn't mean being cited. See which of your pages the engines actually quote and shape the rest to match.
Questions about AI visibility tools
Comparing tools? The AI brand visibility tools roundup covers the subscription options side by side, and AI visibility vs SEO explains why the two need different measurement.
What is an AI visibility tool?
+
An AI visibility tool checks whether AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention or cite your brand when people ask them buyer questions. A good one runs your real prompts on every engine, records who was cited instead of you, and turns that into a score you can track over time. AuditAE does this per prompt and per engine, and adds a fix list built from your losses.
What does an AI visibility score measure?
+
AuditAE's AI Visibility Score is a 0–100 number with a letter grade. It weights URL citation rate at 50%, brand mention rate at 30% and share of voice against named competitors at 20%. Grades run A (70+), B (50+), C (32+), D (15+) and F. Most brands start in the C–D range, which is the point: the score is built to be improvable, and every audit shows the run-to-run change.
Is there a free AI visibility checker?
+
Yes, two, and neither needs a login. The free citation check on this page runs one prompt across all four engines and shows who was cited. The free AI search audit checks whether the engines can fetch, read and trust your site in the first place: crawler access, schema, llms.txt and page structure. A full account starts with $5 of free credit, about 30 checks, no card.
How is an AI visibility audit different from an SEO audit?
+
An SEO audit tells you where you rank on a results page. An AI visibility audit tells you whether an engine names or links you when it writes the answer, which is a different question with different levers. You can rank on page one and never be cited; you can be cited from page three. The AI audit reads the answer text and the source list, not the ranking.
What goes into an AI visibility report?
+
Per prompt and per engine: whether you were mentioned, whether your URL was cited, every source the engine used, every competitor it named, the position of your first mention and the sentiment. On top of that sits the score, share of voice, and a ranked “do this first” list. Every report has a public share link with no login, so an agency can hand it to a client as is.
How much does it cost?
+
Per check, by engine: Perplexity 5¢, ChatGPT 7¢, Google AI Overviews 9¢, Gemini 12¢. A 5-prompt audit on all four engines is $1.65. There is no subscription and no per-domain fee, and signup comes with $5 of free credit. The price is set at roughly three times what each engine costs us to run, and the pricing page shows the math.
Does it work for an agency with many client sites?
+
That is who uses it most. Each client site is its own workspace entry with its own prompts, score and history. There are no seats and no per-domain pricing, so adding a 20th client costs the same per check as the first. Every audit produces a shareable report link, and the free audit tool lets you check a prospect's site before you pitch them.
