Free llms.txt generator
and validator.
Generate an llms.txt from your sitemap using your pages’ own titles and descriptions. Or check the one you have, line by line, against the llmstxt.org format: how it’s served, whether robots.txt blocks it, and whether its links still work. Then fix it in one click.
Three modes: Generate, Validate my file, and Paste, which checks a file in your browser without sending it anywhere.
One text file, at one address.
An llms.txt only counts at the root of your domain. Wherever your site runs, the job is the same: put the file there and serve it as plain text.

Put it at the root
The file lives at
yourdomain.com/llms.txt, served astext/plain(ortext/markdown). Not in a subfolder, not behind a redirect to another host. - 02
WordPress
The free AuditAE plugin serves it and rebuilds it when you publish. Yoast SEO and Rank Math can generate one too; use one of them, not several. Step-by-step for WordPress.

Static sites and frameworks
Save the file as
llms.txtin the folder your host serves from the root:public/in Next.js, Astro, Vite and most static builds. Deploy, then run Validate to confirm it answers 200 as text.
What llms.txt will and won’t do.
llms.txt is a proposed format, not an adopted standard: it doesn't replace robots.txt (access) or your XML sitemap (discovery), and nobody has shown it to be a ranking signal. A tidy file is cheap to keep, and this tool makes it free. Just don’t expect it to move AI citations on its own. The evidence so far:
Ahrefs looked at 137,210 domains in May 2026: 97% of llms.txt files got zero requests, and no AI bot requested a file that didn't already exist.
Ahrefs, “We Analyzed 137K Sites: 97% of llms.txt Files Never Get Read”, 15 Jun 2026. Checked 30 Sep 2026.
In OtterlyAI's 90-day test, 84 of about 62,100 AI bot requests (0.1%) went to /llms.txt, fewer than an average content page on the same site.
OtterlyAI, “llms.txt and AI Visibility: Results from OtterlyAI's GEO Study”, 5 Feb 2026. Checked 30 Sep 2026.
Google says you don't need llms.txt or other AI text files to appear in Search or its AI features, because Google Search doesn't use them; publishing one neither helps nor harms.
Google Search Central, AI features optimization guide, 10 Jul 2026. Checked 30 Sep 2026.
Google's John Mueller has described llms.txt as speculative for now.

llms.txt generator and validator questions
New to the format? Start with what llms.txt is and whether it helps AI search.
The llmstxt.org format, line by line: the file must open with one "# " title, an optional "> " summary can follow, sections are "## " headings, and each entry is "- [name](url): notes". It flags malformed entries with their line number, unescaped brackets in link text, H3 and deeper headings, empty sections, sections over 100 links, relative or duplicate links, non-web ports and a byte-order mark. Validate mode also checks how the file is served: HTTP 200, a text/plain or text/markdown Content-Type, and whether robots.txt blocks /llms.txt.
Many CMSs and single-page apps answer every unknown path with a normal HTML page and HTTP 200, so /llms.txt looks like it exists but serves your theme instead of a text file. AI tools reading it get markup, not a list of pages. The validator reports this as an HTML catch-all; the fix is to publish a real file at that path or turn on your SEO plugin's llms.txt setting.
llms.txt is a short index: your site name, a summary and links to key pages. llms-full.txt, where a site offers one, puts the full text of those pages in a single file. Validate mode only reports whether /llms-full.txt exists, its Content-Type and its size; it doesn't validate its contents.
From your own pages, with no AI rewriting. Generate reads your sitemap (or your homepage links when there is no sitemap), groups the URLs into sections such as Pages, Docs, Products and Blog, and uses each page's own title and meta description. For the first 20 pages it fetches, a page without a meta description gets its first paragraph, trimmed. Anything we couldn't describe is listed so you can add a line yourself.
There's no fixed number; the format is meant to point at the pages that matter most, not mirror your sitemap. The draft keeps at most 30 links, 20 per section, newest first, and moves overflow into an "## Optional" section. It leaves out login, account and cart pages, tag and feed URLs, URLs with query strings, and pages that don't return 200 or are marked noindex.
Three options: the free AuditAE plugin serves and updates llms.txt for you, and Yoast SEO and Rank Math can both generate one too. Pick one, not several, so two plugins don't fight over the same path. If you'd rather publish this draft by hand, upload it as llms.txt to the site root with your host's file manager or SFTP.
When the pages it lists change: a new product, a renamed section, a removed page. Run Validate after big site changes; it checks the first 10 links on your site and "Fix it for me" drops the dead ones. A plugin that rebuilds the file on publish saves you doing this by hand.
We cache the result, including the file, for 30 minutes so a re-check is instant, and log the domain checked. The domain is also kept for an hour as a rate-limit key, and your IP address for 24 hours for the per-visitor limit. We don't keep the file after that. Paste mode never leaves your browser.
