AI answers recommend your competitors. Find out why — then fix it.
AuditAE asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews what your buyers ask, shows who gets cited instead of you, and tells you exactly what to fix on any website.
Across 55 sites audited with AuditAE, 35 of the 39 brands AI named were named at least once without a link to their own site. Directional; mostly small and local businesses. How we count
See who AI cites when buyers ask about you.
Your AI search visibility on one buyer question: whether each engine names you, whether it links your site, and which sites get the link credit instead.
Prompt: “best invoicing software for freelancers”

From “not cited” to fixed.
Your first audit runs itself.
Sign up and add your site: AuditAE writes 4 buyer questions and runs them on all 4 engines, paid from your $5 free credit. Sign up from a free check’s result and it starts from that check.
See why you lost.
AuditAE reads each answer, the sources the engine cited and a snapshot of your own site, then tells you why the other site won: a roundup lists it, it owns the comparison page, or your page doesn’t answer the question. When an engine names you but links someone else, it flags that too.

On WordPress, the free plugin lets AuditAE make the edits once you grant write access. On code-built sites, Claude Code or Cursor pulls the plan over MCP. On Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace or Framer, you get steps for the editor you already use. Stuck? Ask AEBOT, the built-in assistant, what to fix first: each reply is billed on what it uses, typically about $1–2, with its cost shown underneath. A free re-check 14 days after your first audit shows what moved on ChatGPT and Perplexity. See every platform →

A full brand audit costs $1.65 in checks. The fix plan it writes afterwards is billed per answer that doesn’t cite you, plus one summary per audit, and typically costs about as much again. AEBOT, the built-in assistant, bills each reply on what it uses, typically about $1–2. Same features for a solo founder or a marketing team; there is no enterprise gate.

Frequently asked questions
AuditAE (auditae.app) is an AI search visibility tool: it finds where ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews recommend competitors instead of you, explains why, and gives you a ranked fix plan with the exact edits. On WordPress it can make those edits for you once you grant write access. Checks cost 5–12¢ by engine, with no seat fees and $5 free credit. AuditAE is not affiliated with auditae.com, a Spanish auditing firm.
AI visibility tracking is monitoring whether AI language models (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Gemini) mention or cite your brand when people ask questions relevant to your product category. Traditional SEO tells you where you rank in the blue links. AI visibility tracking tells you whether you appear in the AI-generated answer above those links, the answer that increasingly replaces them. There is no page 2 for AI answers: your brand is either cited with a source URL, mentioned without a link, or absent entirely.
An AI citation is when an AI engine — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, or Gemini — references your brand in its generated answer and links your website as a source. A citation is materially better than an unlinked mention: it directs traffic and signals authority to the AI system.
SEO optimizes your position in the blue links. AI visibility optimizes whether your content is selected as a source in AI-generated answers. They're related but distinct — a page ranking #1 in Google can still earn zero citations in AI Overviews, and vice versa. You need to track both.
There's no industry standard yet. Your citation rate is the share of checks (one question on one engine) whose answer links your site as a source. Across the 55 sites audited with AuditAE from May 14, 2026 to October 2, 2026, the median site was linked in 5% of its answers, and 41 of the 55 were linked in under 20%. Directional; mostly small and local businesses. Below 20% on the questions you should own means most of those answers don't link to you.
Semrush and Ahrefs are SEO suites, and their AI visibility tracking comes on top of a broader subscription: Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is $99/month for one domain and 25 prompts. Otterly (from $29/month for 15 prompts) and Peec AI (from $95/month for 50) monitor mentions and citations on a monthly plan, and Profound's plan for brands is custom-priced. AuditAE is pay per check (5–12¢ by engine), shows who gets cited instead of you, then gives you the fix. At heavy always-on volume, a subscription can work out cheaper.
Cost breakdown: Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit vs pay per check
Both. Every audit ends in a fix plan: what to change, on which page, written for the platform your site runs on. On WordPress, the free plugin lets AuditAE make the edits once you grant write access: a new pairing can only read the site and create drafts until you switch on publishing and SEO edits. On code-built sites such as Next.js or Astro, Claude Code or Cursor applies the plan in your repo through the AuditAE MCP server. On Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace or Framer, you get step-by-step fixes for the editor you already use.
AEBOT, the assistant built into the dashboard, is billed per reply on what it actually uses: typically about $1–2, with each reply's cost shown under it. Starting a reply needs at least $1.50 of credit (before your first purchase, whatever is left still gets one more reply). Anything it runs for you, such as a citation check or a fix plan, bills at its usual price.
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini. Run all four in a single audit or select engines individually — each prompt × engine combination is one check, priced per engine because each one costs a different amount to run: Perplexity 5¢, ChatGPT 7¢, Google AI Overviews 9¢, Gemini 12¢. Google AI Mode is available as an opt-in fifth engine at 10¢ per check.
How to rank on: ChatGPTPerplexityGeminiGoogle AI Overviews
Yes. Audits, citation tracking and fix plans run from your domain on any site. AuditAE detects what it's built on — Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, Framer, or code such as Next.js or Astro — and gives each fix as steps for that platform with paste-ready schema. On WordPress, the free plugin can apply the fixes for you once you grant write access; on code-built sites, Claude Code or Cursor can make them in your repo through the AuditAE MCP server.
Every new account starts with $5 in free credits — about 60 checks (≈15 prompts across all four engines), no credit card, no time limit. That covers about 1 full 5-prompt × 4-engine audit with its fix plan, or 3 without.
Sign up with the button on your free check's result and your first audit picks it up: it adds the competitors the check found (the ones it can match to a website) and, unless the question was too vague to reuse, opens with that question. The audit asks 4 buyer questions on all 4 engines from your $5 credit.
From AuditAE's own audit data, last updated October 3, 2026: 3,434 checks in 82 completed audits of 55 sites, from 25 workspaces, run from May 14, 2026 to October 2, 2026. Each check is one live answer from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Overviews. Our own and test workspaces, cached repeats and Google AI Mode are left out. A brand counts as named when the answer mentions it, and as linked when the answer's sources include its site. Directional; mostly small and local businesses. The example result and fix plan on this page use a fictional brand.
