A Free Rapid URL Indexer for WordPress with IndexNow

Most "rapid URL indexer" tools are paid and Google-focused. The honest free version of the same idea ships inside the AuditAE WordPress plugin: IndexNow, which pushes new and updated URLs to participating engines the moment they change.

Publishing a page is not the same as getting it indexed. The page exists on your server the second you hit publish. It stays invisible in search until a crawler finds it, fetches it, and decides to add it. On a low-authority site that gap can run days or weeks.

That delay is why "rapid url indexer" tools exist. Most are paid, most target Google specifically, and the honest free version of the same idea ships inside the AuditAE WordPress plugin: IndexNow.

One clarification up front, because it matters. IndexNow is not technically an indexer. It is a rapid URL notification protocol. You tell participating engines a URL changed, and they crawl and index on their own terms. Faster discovery, not guaranteed indexing.

What IndexNow actually does

IndexNow flips the model. Instead of waiting for a crawler to wander your site (pull), you push a notification the moment a URL changes (push). One ping tells every participating engine: this URL is new or updated, go look.

One submission reaches all of them at once. You do not POST to each engine separately.

The engines that participate today: Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam, and Yep. On those engines, pushed URLs are often discovered and crawled within minutes instead of waiting on a crawl cycle. Indexing still depends on each engine's own quality checks, so a thin or blocked page can be skipped even after a clean ping.

The honest part: Google doesn't use it

Google has tested IndexNow since 2021 and still has not adopted it. So IndexNow will not speed up your Google indexing. For Google you still rely on crawlable internal links, XML sitemaps, and Search Console's URL Inspection tool.

Be wary of any service promising guaranteed or instant Google indexing, especially one that won't explain its method. Google offers no general-purpose indexing API for ordinary pages. Its public Indexing API is restricted to job-posting and livestream pages with the required structured data. Everything else is sitemaps and crawling.

IndexNow is the legitimate alternative for the engines that actually honor it. No credits, no per-URL fees, no guidelines to skirt.

Here is the part most IndexNow write-ups skip.

The engines IndexNow notifies are not just standalone search results. They feed search and retrieval layers that AI assistants draw on. Getting a fresh page into those indexes sooner shortens the window where your new content is effectively absent from them and anything built on top of them.

State this carefully, because it is easy to overclaim. IndexNow does not submit your page to ChatGPT, and a ping does not buy you an AI citation. ChatGPT Search runs its own crawler and pulls from third-party search providers. What IndexNow removes is an avoidable discovery delay on the engines that participate.

For AI visibility, discovery is only the first gate. The page still has to be accessible, relevant, and trustworthy enough to get selected as a source. IndexNow gets you to the gate faster. It does not walk you through it.

That is still the reason this lives in an answer engine optimization plugin and not a generic SEO one: closing the discovery gap is step one of being citable at all.

How the plugin handles it

The AuditAE plugin pings IndexNow automatically. Publish a post or update one, and the URL goes out to every participating engine in the background. No manual submission, no copying URLs into a dashboard, no API key to manage. The plugin generates and hosts the verification key for you.

It runs zero frontend code. The ping fires server-side on the publish or update event, so there is no JavaScript on your public site and no speed hit for visitors.

Versus the paid rapid indexers

Turning it on

Install and activate the plugin, then open the AI settings and confirm IndexNow auto-ping is enabled. If you already run Rank Math, AIOSEO, or another IndexNow integration, run only one so you are not sending duplicate notifications.

You should not expect IndexNow to accelerate Google indexing or hand you an AI citation. What it does is remove an avoidable delay: participating engines hear about your content the moment it changes instead of waiting to stumble on it. For anything time-sensitive, that is the difference between getting discovered today and getting discovered next month.

FAQ

  • Is IndexNow an indexer?
Not technically. IndexNow is a rapid URL notification protocol: you tell participating engines that a URL is new or changed, and they crawl and index it on their own terms. It speeds up discovery, but indexing still depends on each engine's own quality checks — a thin or blocked page can be skipped even after a clean ping.
  • Does IndexNow work with Google?
No. Google has tested IndexNow since 2021 and still hasn't adopted it, so it won't speed up your Google indexing. For Google you still rely on crawlable internal links, XML sitemaps, and Search Console's URL Inspection tool. Be wary of any service promising instant or guaranteed Google indexing — Google offers no general-purpose indexing API for ordinary pages.
  • Which search engines support IndexNow?
Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam, and Yep. One submission reaches all of them at once — you don't POST to each engine separately. On those engines, pushed URLs are often discovered and crawled within minutes instead of waiting on a crawl cycle.
  • Will IndexNow get my page into ChatGPT or earn an AI citation?
Not directly. IndexNow doesn't submit your page to ChatGPT, and a ping doesn't buy a citation — ChatGPT Search runs its own crawler and pulls from third-party search providers. What IndexNow removes is an avoidable discovery delay on the engines that participate, several of which feed the search and retrieval layers AI assistants draw on. Discovery is the first gate, not the whole journey.
  • Do I need an AuditAE account to use IndexNow?
No. IndexNow auto-ping is free and standalone the moment you activate the AuditAE AI Search Toolkit plugin — it generates and hosts the verification key for you. Just don't run two IndexNow integrations at once: if Rank Math, AIOSEO, or another plugin already pings IndexNow, enable only one so you're not sending duplicate notifications.
